cavitating?

Took my 97 GTI out yesterday right from the start when you would get into the throttle hard it was like it was cavitating but if you started off slow all was fine and no problems, I checked for trash around the inpellar and if was clear. Any ideas?

I had the same problem -- but when I put two of us on it I could not get it on plane -- turned out to be the ware ring -- easy job -- take a good look at yours and see if any parts have peeled away.
