The 787 originally came with a carburetor insulator base gasket about a 1/8 inch thick. Mine have fallen apart and I have not been able to find a replacement set.

I have used just a thin single gasket but I not sure if I am getting a complete seal.

What are you guys doing when it comes to carburetor base gaskets?

Nick,

Do you know if these are the thick rubber gaskets based on the price I would assume they are?
Do you just use that gasket by itself?

They aren't rubber but they are the thicker one you are referring to.

You can use a regular carb gasket (Thin one from the Mikuni kits) it won't hurt anything

I'm doing the research now.
Yes I see they are thicker but I hope they are reusable at $11 each plus shipping

Nick,

Thank You

I just bought four, expensive but cheap insurance to make sure the carbs are sealed to the intake.

I wish I could adopt your philosophy of spending the money to do it right the first time. Unfortunately I’m an old dog and will probably continue to do it on the cheap side. :banghead:

Although I got hurt pretty good by the SBT crank so maybe I am learning a new trick or two.

I have a hard time spending the money but I know that it will just come around and bite me if I cheap out.

In the end I have about 5500 sunk into my challenger that including the purchase price. With a selling price of 7000-7500 I didn't mind spending the money.
