So I went to change out my carbon seal on my drive shaft and when I took it apart I see this blue item. According the to print it looks like a shaft protector part number 204120130. I see the end is damage, my question is do I need to replace this item or can I just cut off the end of the shaft protector? Looks like there is only two tabs left on the protector. Not sure how important this item is.

Is there any in the pump tunnel? Just remove it. It was to protect the driveshaft form ski ropes when you would suck them up. Pay attention to the rope if you tube or ski and no need for it.

Should the carbon ring be tight going over the shaft? Mine is not but the silver backing ring is. Did I get the wrong carbon ring

ok I have having a major problem getting the carbon ring push back for enough to get the new clip one. Is there a easy way to compress the ring and bellow so I can get the ring on?

Is your pump on? Grease the shaft. Make sure the bumpers are in on both ends of the shaft. Make sure the o-rings are inside the stainless hat.

I keep a small chunk of 2x4 and a flat prybar in my toolbag for levering between the pto and the tophat towards the back to access the oring or clip holding it on. stanley wunderbar or generic flat 12" prybar nailpuller etc.

I also have a length of 1x6 cut so that it fits upon the lip of the engine tray edge so i can lay, lean or stand above the engines while reaching in with my arms, it lives in the ski locker

I was able to finally get them both done. I was trying to do it by my self but two people made it much easier
