i took my carbs off my 1996 GTX to rebuild them, i finally put them back on but after everything i noticed iu didnt hook up a throttle cable, it is the long one that goes to the pto carb. When i pull the choke or the throttle it doesnt move, what is this cable for and is it worth the pain in the ass to hook it back up?

thanks for the help man, im gunna try the battery tomorrow and see how it runs then see how the carbs are doing.

Oil injection pump cable....!

That's your oil injection pump cable. It does not move when you pull the choke but should open the oil pump when you pull on the throttle, if it's connected.

If you removed the carbs, you'll need to make sure the carbs are still in sync with the oil pump.

Procedure....

Now that's a heck of a procedure to type out.

First, if you put all the cables back like they were, your probably good. To check it, you'll need to use a mirror and put it at the front of the mag cover. Look at it and on the upper side, you'll see a small button imprint with a line. There is a line on the cam too (on the upper side). These two should be in line with each other when the carbs are closed, with the throttle cable off and the idle stop screw backed out.

If you loosened the carb sync bar and changed that setting you'll need to check them too.........

connected?

When you popped off the carbs, if you didn't loosen the bar between the PTO and MAG carbs, your sync should be good there. On the oil injection cable, if you loosened the holding nut from the front side (cable end) so as not to change your oil injection ratio, you'll probably be fine. But just because it "sounds" o.k., doesn't mean it is.......

i think im gunna just start premixing b/c the oil injection lines are going bad anyways (they are originals), does this sould like a good solution/idea?

The injector system works at a variable rate and uses less oil in the long run, and won't foul the spark plugs as fast. I prefer to use the injector system, but the cables aren't cheap... but peace of mind is priceless.
