Hi Folks,
This is my first post with you guys. I have a Seadoo SP 1996 with a 587 rotax. My symptoms were: Starts, but only idles with choke out. As soon as I give it gas or push in the choke, it dies.

So, I cleaned out the fuel filter and blew out all the fuel lines making sure there was a clear path to the carb. I tracked everything to the carb and all was clear including the line to the choke. It stopped at the top line in the carb and was clogged there. I removed the carb and blew through it and nothing. I removed the face plate and removed that little filter there. With the filter out, I could blow through so I figure that's clogged from the deterioration of the grey fuel lines.

Question: How do I rebuild this thing and what solvent can I use gentle enough to not harm the rubber gaskets and parts?

Q:how do you clean that little carb filter safely?

Q:Is there a manual I can buy that will walk me through the rebuild?

The dealer wanted 370.00 just to look into the fuel system. Another 200 to rebuild the carb and it went up from there. The ski is only worth about 1500.00, but I'm running out of summer in Michigan.

Thanks,
Tom Toro

Have you thought about buying a rebuild kit?

I did and it's coming Monday. I'm not sure if it comes with directions and was hoping there was a detailed manual that could warn me of certain potential disasters before I remove something and a spring goes twenty feet somewhere.

Or maybe somebody around here has rebuilt one like mine and can advise me.
