Carb Rebuild Kit Question

I have my carbs out for a rebuild since I'm doing my top end. The carb kit has extras.

I'm just wondering if I'm supposed to be using the gasket from the pic below. It definitely looks like its supposed to go in, but I didn't pull one out of the carb. I don't know if they were ever rebuilt before as the boat is new to me.

This is a 787 cc engine from a 1997 Challenger 1800.

I believe that gasket goes between the two fuel blocks where the filters are located and I also believe that gasket is supposed to be rubber. Are you using a genuine Mikuni kit?

Okay, there is an oring that fits just fine, and I've replaced the thin rubber gasket between the blocks. It just this kit which is Winderosa, came with a gasket that fits between the block as well. I ended up taking it out. I'm assuming its not needed, its probably just an extra in the kit.

Winderosa is absolute garbage. I just pulled all 4 of my carbs back off my boat after 6 months or so of using the winderosa kit. The gaskets had gone bad, started breaking down and putting junk in the carbs. They turned white and blue.

The OEM gaskets that were in the boat before look like the brand new oem I just installed. There is a difference! Don't waste your time with non-Mikuni kits.

That's for a carb without the "O-ring" style gaskets.

The kit's have the gaskets for all the versions of the "Square body" SBN carbs.

Thanks for the info! Yeah, I didn't end up using the paper style gaskets. I ordered some parts from a guy in Ontario and really didn't even think about what brand....nor would I know any better anyway. He sounds pretty knowledgeable about Seadoos. I know he hates SBT engines, calls them junk. I guess he sees quite a bit of them.

I have used those Winderosa kits(They are made in USA) before with no issues. I have them in my Yam GP1200 for 3 seasons and it runs like a champ. They feel and look the same as the mikuni ones for about 1/2 the price. I wouldn't trust kits made in China, but come on we still do make good qulity stuff here in the USA for the stuff we do make. I just put 2 of these kits in my 95' GTX so I will see what happens when I drop it in the water.
