Carb rebuild and zip ties

Hi all,

I have finished up my carb rebuild and now in process of putting everything back together.

On the '98 Speedster there are small fuel lines running to each carb from the acceleration pump. I am not able to reuse the clamps that originally held the acceleration lines and I was wondering if I could just use plastic zip-ties (tightened with a zip-tie gun) on these small lines instead of the metal oetiker clamps?

Has anyone tried this? Good idea :) or dumb idea :ack:?

Note: I was able to re-clamp the clamps on the primary fuel lines.

Thanks.

Anything carb related I would use hose clamps. Zip ties are okay for oil lines (well for most of them I suppose). Proximity to heat (aluminum carb from aluminum block conducts heat like mad) is the big reason I would avoid zip ties.

I always use small black ties on my accelerator pump lines. I just pull them tight and it works fine as the ties touch the rubber lines and no metal parts. The gun would be a pain to get in close to the carbs.
I hope this helps.

Karl
