can I use BR7ES spark plugs

can I use BR7ES spark plugs instead of BR8ES. Guy at the shop said he recommends them for older engines to help burn off excess oil. He said you can go as low as BR6ES. Will using them damage anything? I have been fouling plugs with oil on the end.

oil is just for lubricating...it really doesnt burn...use the 8, but figure out why the excess oil.

Pull plugs and with rag over holes, see if oil is present...might have bad seal.

did this and got some oil out. Have blown a piston while trying to diagnose and am doing a top end and replacing seals, I assume that would fix it if the seals are the problem.
