Hi,

1999 GTX Limited

Anyone have any idea's on this problem ?

My Clocks seem to be going crazy, the temp reads HI TEMP even when the engine is cold (flashing red LED)

the hours read - - - - -'s and flash

the revs are all over the place and read 8000+ at tickover WTF?????????

They've gone mental, do you think it's the GAUGE or the MPEM?????

I'm happy that engine isn't overheating as I can feel it's ok when I run it on the drive with the hose and I always get my double bleep before start up....

This confuses me as there's no error message when (if the gauge was right) there should be....

Someone help me pleeeeeeeeeeease.......?!

thanks...

nice site BTW......

really nice !

:agree:

My advice might not fix it, but it won't hurt it!

Remove the battery cables, and clean and grease them, with marine grease, and re assemble it. And, pull apart the electrical connections, and re seat them, with a bit of silicone spray. Check for corrosion on the connections.

Electrical connections are funny things.

I agree and to this end I have done the following:

Tightened the battery terminals.

taken all plugs out from the MPEM

sprayed all female plugs with WD40

taken MPEM into the DRY cupboard indoors overnight for a good drying out

I will let you know what happens tomorrow.

Thanks for your advice.....

p.s. can you only get the exprts on the premium threads? do I have to pay for premium threads ?

hope not or the internet forum world has just gone commercial and we are all finished !

if the rectifier/reg is bad it will act like that
Crank it with water on it and check the voltage at the battery and if it is higher than 14 volts it's prob bad
I think the rectifier/reg is made in the mpem on that year.
