I have installed a Hawkeye depth finder in the dash but am having a heck of a time finding a suitable spot to glue the transducer. Any one willing to share the spot that worked for them? My boat is a 2005 Challenger 180.

I know it not the same boat exactly, but these boats are pretty much identical inside the hulls. Kustomkarl did a nice write up on installing a depth finder. Find it and it might help.

+1 the above links cover installs as KK has done these in his boats and on others.

Additional resource is the Norcross website itself for install manuals including recommended transducer locations for various craft as well as test methods, plus their self-help customer service site which covers alternative in-hull transducer mounting.

In addition to above, another creative semi-permanent alternative for in-hull transducer mount is toilet bowl wax. YMMV.

Thanks for the comments. I have yet to find the sweet spot to permanently mount the transducer. Anyone with a C180 care to weigh in?

Did you first drop the transponder overboard to get a baseline test and then try one of the three follwing in hull check methods? Norcross and KK's thread recommend either trying (1) trandsponder in plastic bag filled with water, (2) in bilge with enough water to cover transponder, or (3) vaseline coating on transponder then to hull? These help the unit conduct properly with no air bubbles which should allow you to find the sweet spot a bit easier.

Recommended in hull locations by manuf and others here tend to be on starboard side of keel, just fore of the jet pumps or bilge. Sorry if this is a dupe to your efforts.
