Hi there,
I have just picked up my first seadoo boat and loving it but need some help replacing the ladder latch.

It is a 97 challenger that is in pretty good condition with a few minor things I want to fix up. One being to replace the ladder latch that is missing. I ordered and have received a new rubber ladder latch, rivet, and washer (through this site) but in looking to install it, the original rivet that holds the rubber latch in place appears to be broken off inside the hole.

Any thoughts on how I can remove the remnants of the original rivet so I can install the new one?

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

You may have already tried this, but try driving it out of the way with a punch, bolt, or something the same diameter as the new rivet. If that fails just use a drill bit the same diameter as the new rivet and drill the hole in the old rivet. As long as the new rivet is long enough to mushroom you should be fine. Also top it off with some silicon or rtv to waterproof everything. The main thing is enjoy! I love working on my sea-doos even when it feels like they are fighting me. Check here often, feel free to ask questions, and post anything you think others could benefit from. Welcome to the forum!

I need the same latch. Where on here did you find it to order it?

Do these really stand up to wear and tear? Every one I have seen including mine is busted. What are some alternatives?
