broken brass fitting on accelerator pump

Boat was barely running and i found the broken off brass fitting that i assume the guy whom just rebuilt top end , broke off and tried to silicon it back on.
So from what i have read it is possible to tap out the broken brass fitting and reinstall some other 1/4 " mip x barb fitting. lf I remove the 4 screws holding the cap on do i need a new gasket for it?

so i took out the bolts and now the gas wont stop flowing.....and suggestions

Clamp off the inlet fuel hose.

I would just get a new cover if it was me.

yes I finally clued into clamping hose. I tried to get a new one. i just srove 4 hours to end up with a boat thats out of commission. currently trying to tap it

tap is successful nu5t now gasline is tooooo short......arghhggggg

You need to make sure that fitting is 200% air tight or you will seize the engine.

gotta be alot better then the previous silcone job. but the tap seemed good and i t-taped the brass mip begore installing it

Silicone doesn't belong on, in or near a boat, IMO, FWIW.
