Broken bilge pump

Hi all,
Love all the advice on this forum. Hoping someone can help me. Have 2008 speedster 215. Have a broken bilge pump. Dealer wants to put a cheaper aftermarket one in but it won't turn on automatically only manual. Any reason why I need it to be automatic?

If you leave your boat docked for any,(hours, days), length of time, probably a good idea to have a pump that can come on when you're not around....
