Ok sometimes they do show they have it but when I call them they dont have it, but I will call them tomorrow..

When I ordered my throttle cable, they did not have it in stock, but they got it within 3 days. Total time was a week.

Ok I removed the cable, thankfully it came out very easy, the place it broke was from real close to the control lever (where throttle lever is), it broke like 7 inches before the throttle. I have two questions:

1. The end of the long steel cable has an housing with a place to screw on a screw, how do you replace the cable? How do you feed it through the plastic housing?

2. Can I use the one I have? doesnt look so bad, how do you get the steel cable back on the end housing(s)?

thanks.. P.S. I GOT PICTURES, <<==--pictures coming up--==>>

By the way, from researching posts, I believe people are using:
"Control Cables, 9816 Alburtis Ave..Sante Fe Springs, CA 90670...562-949-0455 ask for Vic" i havent called but I will

Ooops did I take them out the wrong way? I left the outer place housing in place and just removed the metal steel cable from within? here is the pictures:

Guess what? Im so lucky! I found the other part number which Steve from Travis Marine helped me out AGAIN!!! this guy had my Reverse Bucket Lever last year, I bought 2!! wow can you believe it? I love that place!!!

I want to share the joy with you guys!!! these guy always has my things in stock!!! and can you believe it was only $70 bucks??? WOW!!! im so freaking happy after almost dying on the river!!

Anyways I found out that Part number 271000467, is the same part as 271000386.

Thanks God!

Yup OCOD and I am ready to dive into repairing my own carbs! I cant mess it up more than I have messed up the rest of my boat! ahahah, did I tell you I crashed my boat into a bridge on the Colorado River, lol, poor boat I have crashed that boat so many times its ridiculous, IM DEFINITELY A "MUST HAVE INSURANCE" guy, lol. I went into look into the Challenger 180, I was getting sick of having so many problems on my boat, I also looked at the Speedster 150, but I like them both.. maybe..

After all that celebration I want to tell you guys that I work and live real close to:
Control Cables, 9816 Alburtis Ave..Sante Fe Springs, CA 90670...562-949-0455

I met with Vic this morning, who was going to "recreate" this cable for me. He only needed my old part, but Im going to do better than that, since a lot of us need these parts, im going to give Vic my new cable from Travis Marine as soon as I get it, and he will recreate this part for us! Did you know that he already has our Steering cables in his computer and he can make you a brand new one?

Well now he is going to have our Reverse Shift Cable!

you should ask him if they can make throttle cables with the barrel end??
Those are in high demand as well

I received the cable from Travis Marine, it looks a little different? im gonna go check out the length and look at it.. Ill let you know..

Well GOOD NEWS AND BAD NEWS,

Let me tell you the bad news first, because the good news is really good.

The bad news is that the cable I ordered from Travis Marine is about 12 inches shorter?, but it does say that it "superceded" the previous part number? so Im not sure what to do? here are the pictures:

As you can tell the in the last picture, the blue cable is the one that Travis Marine sent me, do you see that the old one is way longer (like 12 inches almost a foot or bigger)??

Do you think I can use the one they sent me being so much shorter?

THE REALLY GOOD NEWS IS THAT I CALLED SBT
And they are "recreating these cables", and you guys know SBT is a really good company, I called them and they have them in stock?? wow... funny... im still working with Vic at control cables anyways, lets see what happens here..

I need help, do you guys think this shorter cable will work?

Well after checking with SBT, the cable I got from Travis Marine is the same length? 107.5 inches long?, The cable I had in my sportster since I bought it was like 120 inches? weird... ?

So basically the cable I got from Travis Marine is the same one that SBT is selling? good, so it should fit? lets see..

Great news guys! I installed my shift reverse cable myself! it was easier than I would have imagined, I believe with the right wrenches (wrench #17), and a adjustable wrench, and some zip ties, you could finish this job in as little as 30 minutes! It took me about an hour to two, I took my time learning and making sure it was as perfect as I can make it.

Flash update, after installing my shift reverse cable, I noticed something.... Im the responsible culprit of my broken reverse shift cable. Last year when I ordered my "reverse bucket lever" I installed it incorrectly! I installed it wrong, I put the inside housing outside! and finally it gave out. Ill show you in pictures (coming up). So basically it was my fault my cable broke, wow, I really have to double check all the work I do, mind you, I was running it like that for a year!

But I am happy that I fixed my own reverse cable! yay!

I found a local (Toronto, Canada) shop that can rebuild the old one for $75...

But I had an idea that I confirmed "may" work with that shop..

Its only my housing that is torn, the inside cable is still good.

I will get 6 inches of 1/4" fuel line or something similar, slit one side of it down the middle, wrap it around the tear in the housing and use 4 fuel line screw down clamps, 2 above the tear and 2 below..

If this works I'll let you know..

Ben
