Yesterday I purchased my BRAND SPANKIN NEW 2008 GTI SE 130hp and have begun the 10 hour break in period on her. The manual is not very specific other than not to run WOT and to keep it below 3/4 throttle aside from occasional brief acceleration and speed variations.

Anyone have anything else to add to that? I got 1.5 hrs on her today and gonna try for another hour or two tomorrow.

Also today I noticed the motor seemed to pulse/surge during acceleration but purhaps that is normal as it was ever so slight. And best part, NO CAVITATIONS! Motor is pretty quiet but sounded like something loose inside at higher rpm, sound dissappeared when i ran it with the seat off, must just be how she sounds. Can't wait to get out of this 10 hour break in!

I used to do the same thing when I got my "brand new" motorbike.

You know it's new and you think your hearing something. That's because your looking to hear something.

Just relax and work the throttle a lot. Don't stay at one RPM to long and don't go to WOT just yet.

Thanks timmy! couldn't access that thread as I am not a premium member...joking about taking it back right? :(

Go ride it and have fun. I'm sure it is just the new machine that has you thinking about little noises. Besides it's under warranty.

WOOOHOOO!!! :D I've been working on my '94 XP ALL SUMMER and now trying to crunch in 10 hours on this new baby has me all kinds of excited! My brain is still stuck in diagnostic mode from that XP :ack: (which by the way is now running!) Can't wait for next summer! (or some warmer weather).

Thanks guys! 3.5 hrs total as of today :)
