Bow stop placement?

I'm doing some work on the Shoreland'r double trailer that came with our '96 Sea-Doo GTX's and thinking of lowering the bow stops from how it was when we acquired the trailer.

The existing location seems to hit the front bumper of the trim piece on the ski; I have new trim pieces and I'm thinking that if I lower the bow stop it will avoid hitting the front bumper when loading but I don't want to cause additional harm elsewhere; see pic for reference.

- Lowered position places the bow stop below the strap attachment point.
- Will this cause the ski to ride up and over when loading?
- Good idea? Dump Idea? Other???

WOW, I had to read this again. I thought you meant lowering the bow loop on the ski :) :)

No harm in trying it, it's just a couple bolts to loosen.
The back end might stick out a little further b/c of it, check it out first.

I personally like the strap as short as possible, so I would keep it high up.

Strap needs to pass below the bow stop and have the bow stop as near the bow eye of the ski as possible. Bow stop should be above the bow eye. This eliminates the ski from bouncing up when going down the road.

^ what joe said. You need to realize that IF you were to rear end someone, there's nothing to stop the ski from lunging forward into your back seat, that's why the strap has to pass below the bow stop, and same thing with bouncing around on the road as stated.
