Hi guys,

I am located in Ontario Canada. Does anyone know a place where i can get a high speed key programed?

Is this possible? Does anyone know the cost?

Thanks

are you sure it's a learners key? it will say L-key on the dash if it is and will have a white foam piece, not yellow. you may just be in limp mode, any lights or messages? press set 5 times to get current codes.
any dealer can program new keys which costs about $50 new, $30 used, check ebay. I program for free if you buy the key from me, used or new. Most dealers don't do this but should only charge $15 or so to program a new key, it takes about 3 minutes.

limp mode only allows low speed, like a learners key, but is done to protect itself when it thinks something is wrong.

yep, you have a learners key then. just call dealers in your area and see what they charge to program a new key. just tell them you want a spare key programmed, not that you desperately need a key. ask for both a new one and if you bring in your own key just to have programmed. they should ask for ownership papers and check id so they know you are the rightful owner and it is not stolen.

Great,

I bought a 07 GTI base model, but now i think it might be the rental version, do you know anything about the rental model? Any differences?

Thanks Ski-doo!

I doubt it is a rental version, they are not readily available to the public, unless you bought it from a rental place and it will have tons of hours. It is the same ski anyway other than the key and it will log rental hours differently in the MPEM. If you bought from a normal individual or a dealer, it will be a base model.

I'm pretty sure it is a rental as the hours are quite up there and the seller hinted at this. Would you mind explaining how the mpem logs the hours differently? Not sure what you mean.

Also I can still get the key programmed to allow full throttle on the rental version right?

In BUDS software, there is a rental hour counter that can be reset, that's all and doesn't affect anything. Yes, you can get a regular lanyard to allow full throttle. It should go about 53-55.

How many hours? I've seen a few over 1000 with no issues, pretty bulletproof 4 stroke design when you don't push the motor that hard. The rental units typically get pretty beat up though.

You can get your Learner Key wiped clean and programmed to full power. Zero hardware cost, just pay a dealer for the service or find someone with the capable software to do it for you.
