Bombardier lube vs. Bombardier storage oil

What's the difference? I know the storage oil is used for winterizing.. but why?

Is there alternate brand that is acceptable?

The Lube is for the outside of the engine as a corrosion preventative, the storage oil is the fogging oil--for the inside of the engine. I'm sure there is something different between the fogging oil that might "cling" better?? Check the MSDS on BRP site, it should have the ingredients and %'s

My preference is CRC 6-56 for hosing down a motor fore storage, and stabil fog or CRC stor fogging oils.

I dunno what that BRP stuff is, it's confusing the way it's labeled and more expensive, so must be some really fantastic stuff!

Bomb lube and Bomb storage oil are excellent products! a bit smelly, but awesome to say the least, and quite expensive compared to others.
on that note I use CRC lube for joints and such, and the storage oil bc it clings very very well.
a bit smokey when you first fire up for the beginning of the season.

But if you get a good price on BRP products, go for it!... I don`t have the luxury of decent pricing anymore...

I use Mercruiser fogging oil, because I have like a half case left. I have used it for several years, seems to work well. The absolute best protection of the exterior parts of the engine is Fluid Film.

Fluid film rocks! although I don`t use it for the engines on ski`s or boats. I`ve seen way to many just spray it on coat after coat over the salt splash until it looks like the ski is powered by a candle... :lols:

the best thing to do is just keep under the seat or hatch clean as necc.

Honestly I don't use fluid film on my engines either, but my ski's are stored inside and have never seen salt water. I was making the suggestion for harsher climates or salt water use. Thanks for pointing that out, I probably should have clarified that in my original post.

Do most of you guys recommend spraying something like the fluid film or silicone spray over the engine and metallic parts? My ski hasn't been in salt water and is garage kept the whole winter.

I don't use slicone spray, I do have a can of it but keep it hidden from the paint guy, he hates the stuff!

A dousing with some WD-40 should do you fine if you have that, if storing in the dry garage with the seat up then there shouldn't be much moisture to cause corrosion.

Fogging procedure from Operators manual calls for bombardier spray lube when fogging, LOL, so which is which for fogging oil for spraying down or are they really the same product?:

5. Pull out air intake silencer plug.
1. Air intake silencer plug (spray Bombardier
Lube here)
6. Spray Bombardier Lube lubricant
keeping engine at fast idle during
one minute.
7. Close the water tap then stop the
engine.
8. Remove hose pincher.
9. Replace air intake silencer plug.

Yea that's what I was getting at. My manual say to spray the lube in the air intake, unless you're winterizing... if winterizing, spray the storage oil in the air intake. I figured someone would know why the different product for storage.?.?...
