Hello I have a 1993 Sea-Doo GTX that I just stripped all the stickers off of. They where original so you can imagine what they look like :-) .. My question is this. The area under these stickers was nice glossy white.. Is there any way to get the rest of the hull to look like this while I have the ski stripped down? Or would I have to take this thing to a body shape and have them paint it. I have been told there is a product out there that will strip away a very thin layer of the gelcoat and get me a finish like this does anyone out there know what this stuff is and will it work like I have been told. This ski is old so I really cant justify getting it painted. This needs to be a project that I can do at home. Also anyone know where I can get stickers for this thing.. Does not have to be OEM... But anything to give it some life again.

Thanks
Dave

Hey Dave, you could find different cleaners out there that will bring the luster back to the finish. I would go to West Marine and inquire about your options. They can point you in the correct direction, based on your skill level and budget. For graphics you could google it, or find a vinyl graphic company locally that can cut graphics just for you.

I just got done completely repainting my '92. It was a painstaking process that took me 2 weeks in my garage but I just rolled it out today and it looks great. I got this spray paint from Home Depot that was formulated for fiberglass, plastic, and vinyl and it worked great. For the virgin fiberglass I just lightly scuffed it with 220 grit sandpaper and then clearcoated it when I was done. Turned out better than I could have ever hoped. Looks like a brand new ski.

Hi if you have a chance I would be very interested to see a picture of your ski that you just painted. I have plenty of time so working for 2-3 weeks on the body of this ski is no big issue for me... Wife is out of the country right now so I have more time then I know what to do with

boatus.com has some stickers but not much. or if you have the money you can hit the exoticsigns.com just beware that their custom registration numbers can run up to $100 for a pair. :D

Just finished talking with a fiberglass repair guy today. Seadoo's don't have paint on them. The color is in the gel-coat. He was at my house repairing a crack on my hull. He used a basic polishing compound and buffed my entire ski for me. The gel-coat looks brand new now!!! Top and bottom.

:agree:yup thats all you need to do if your gelcoat is looking a little faded. use a finishing glaze to bring it back to is original shine usually. but rmember the gelcoat is usually only about the thickness of a dime.
