My Super-Topia is gone and Zach is heading back home to Pensacola with it.
Zach and his buddy arrived around 6:30 am this morning. They had spent the night on the beach before showing up at my house. We immediately connect the boat and head to the Bayport boat ramp on the gulf. Mind you this is the first time I've been to this area to boat with my Utopia. We quickly launch the boat and idle away from the dock. Everything is going great as I demonstrate the amazing maneuverability of my Seadoo and all the cool stuff about the boat.
We continue idling away from the boat ramp and past the fishing pier until we get into the channel so we can open her up. I gun the throttle and was like......WTF Its like I've got a transmission......and its slipping!!!!!!!!! The boat does eventually get on plane but only does about 46 MPH with four of us aboard. I throttle back and try another standing start run and same thing!!!!!! I'm like....OH MAN I HOPE I DIDNT RUIN MY WEAR RINGS!!!!
As we head back and approach the finishing pier I notice the water has tons of eel grass floating on the surface. I'm thinking....OK we musta sucked a ton of it up. In retrospect I shoulda just shut the boat off, let some of it float away and try again but instead I elected to pull the boat out of the water, bring it home, clean it out and inspect it.....Everything looked fine once I cleaned out some of this vegetation.
We now head to Crystal River(doesnt have same weed issue). We launch again and test. Zach and his buddy are thrown back into their seats and we're all like.....THATS WHAT I'M TALKIN' ABOUT!!!!!:hurray: as the Utopia blasts out of the hole and rips! Seadoos love clean weed free waters!!!!
So, after about a fun 25 minute ride we head back to the docks, retrieve the boat and do our transaction. Zach knows he got one helluva great deal on my boat and I know I sold it for too little But I came away good and so did he....Win-Win!!!!!
Zach, it was great meeting you guys today. I wish you both success in the military, thank you for your service and I am proud fine people like you two are fighting for us all like so many generations have done for us for hundreds of years! You make them all proud!
Your friend,
Craig
