Boarding 2003 Sea Doo XP DI

Hello all,

Just purchased a 2003 Sea Doo XP DI for an awesome price. Only 135 hrs. and in wonderful condition. Runs really well. Would have probably been more practical to have purchased a larger, more stable jet ski but we couldn't resist the price. We've found it very difficult to board, if not impossible from the sides. This model is very unstable in the water prior to boarding due to the V hull design. Anyone have any advise? I realize boarding from the rear would provide for a more stable entry but it's inconvienient when you can't even step onto the jet ski from the dock.

Comments are appreciated.

I've seen 2 words in your post that explane it.

1) WE
2) Board from the side

Realistically... you can't board from the side. You have to get on from the rear. Also... even though, it says it's a 2 passenger ski... realistically... it was designed for a single rider.

The only advise I can give is... if you want a ski that you can use a a small boat... then you have to buy a bigger, 3 person ski.

You're gonna roll it trying to get on from the side. The only chance you have is getting on from the rear, pull yourself on from the rear grab bar, get a knee on the rear deck, and pull yourself on up, all this time trying to balance the ski so it doesn't roll over.

I've got a 96GTI (big ski) with a boarding step, that my wife or son usually ride, I get on the 96GTI and then get on the XP from the GTI. Sounds complicated doesn't it?

Friends,

Thanks for all the advise. So it's not just me, there's an art to boarding. Oh well, it's all worth the hassle once you're on. What a blast!!
