When/what year did the Mikuni SBN carbs debut on Seadoo's and what motor pkg.
The parts sheet for my 1998 Sportster 1800 says I should have BN 40-38 but SBN's are on it. Just curious..

Ummmmmm....... about 1991. (all engines)

Yes... by the time '98 rolled around... there was nothing left of the old "BN" carbs... so the "S" got dropped most of the time. BUT... the "SBN" was never their real designation. (that's our abbreviation) The other name they got was a "Square body BN".

Thanks for the information Doc, glad I hadn't ordered those carb rebuild kits yet...

Not a prob.

Just an FYI... the "old" style BN kits will have a bunch of round gaskets in them. Any of the "Super" kits will mostly be square. Also... the 38 and 40 carbs use the same kit... so that's a plus too.
