Does anyone know if the intake manifold on a 1989 587 engine with a BN-38 RB carb is compatible with a later carburetor, for instance a BN-38 SB from 1992? I need to rebuild the RB carb on my 1989 model 5802 PWC but kits look to be hard to come by and I was wondering if it would just be simpler to buy a newer carb and bolt it on. I realize that I'll be eliminating the external fuel pump by doing this, too. Any info or thoughts would be appreciated.

it'll work, but the airbox/arrestors are different, one you have has 3bolts hold'n on, 92' has the 2-bolt, but the base of both carbs are the same....

my 93 GTS has the 3 bolt top. so do the twin carbs in my 93 explorer (SPI in a zodiac inflatable). you say you are losing external fuel ump. i am not a yellow motor guy. is the orig fuel pump driven by crankcase pressure like the white motor carb fuel pumps? if not, you have a little drilling to do...
