Hey guys I recently just had my jet ski shut off on my when I was riding it, later I pulled it off the water to see that the 5 amp fuse was blown. I then ripped the MPEM out and started searching for that diode I couldn't find it maybe because it's newer it's a 2006 GTX 4 Tec sea doo I'm wondering what I do now replace the MPEM or do a bench test also could it be something besides the MPEM. And now that I have it all torn apart do I just replace it, any ideas of what is causing my 5 amp fuse to blow

It could have been a one-off. Would have been easier to just replace the fuse and see if it blows again. That may be the best way to go from here (i.e. put it back together). If it blows again soon, you know you've got an electrical problem. Good luck.

I did change out the fuse before I went to take it apart and it still blew it wondering if I need to bench test the MPEM and how I have a 27800 1724 part number for MPEM

I'd plug it back in and unplug both the VTS module and VTS motor. When the VTS fail it often blows the MPEM fuse.

It's a free test,,

My RXT has 2 5A fuses.

It was blowing the upper one on the right side of the MPEM fuse block. That fuse feed the TOPS switch and the Instrument Cluster. Turns out my cluster had shorted and left me in basically Limp Mode. Unplugged the cluster and it runs great again.

I looked at the Service Manual and it shows another 5A fuse on the bottom right that lists being for the EMS, Start/stop switch.

Down load the "Service Manual" for your ski and check it out. Lots of good info in there.

The bottom right side is blowing it says start/stop switch , EMS. How would I test those things thanks

Bottom right is the EMS (Engine Management System) which includes all the sensors and the ECM (Engine Control Module).

In looking at the manual for my RXT it basically says to connect it to BUDS software and check for codes. It also states the MPEM feeds power to ECM on a constant basis and the ECM will provide ground to what ever need power at any given moment.

Does the fuse blow right away? Or when you hit the start/stop switch? If right away could be either. I would disconnect the S/S switch and try again. That would eliminate the switch as the problem. BUT would point to the ECM as the culprit.

Disclaimer.... I'm no expert on these things and just trying to read the service manual wiring diagram and use a little logic to troubleshoot your problem.

Ok found the service manual I tested the switch everything seems good, I have a bad feeling it's the EMS. Does anyone know how to do a test on it or is it just a part that has to get replaced

Wish I could help with this. BUT, that is above my pay grade as they say.
Any chance you have a friend with a similar ski you could trade one out to test it?
