Well I sold my 1997 Challenger last month to a member here on the forum. I have pictures in the "Users Galleries", see if you can enlarge them to see them better.

Self-Install

If you are going to self-install the bimini, here are a couple tips:

Open the bimini and position it over the drivers seat so the correct location is found relative to shade coverage, view to the front etc. The open bimini should not be tilted back or it will act like a kite and self-destruct. Use duct tape and bungee cords to hold the tie straps in place during fitting.

Next, once you have chosen a location, you have to figure out if you can get your arm inside the hull to attach 3 things on each side - the pivot and the 2 strap hooks. This can be very difficult and may require a child-sized arm.
You want to put a backing plate behind each attachment, fiberglass will not hold a bimini under severe stress. This includes the strap hooks fittings.

Do not drill directly into gel coat, it will make large chips. There are various techniques, often starting with a very small drill bit and enlarging the hole will do. Maybe search this forum for drilling tips.

When reaching through the hull holes, make sure to wear a long sleeve shirt because fiberglass will embed in your skin and drive you nuts all night. Likewise vacuum up immediately after drilling any holes so you dont breathe glass fibers.
