Ok I'm brand new to boating and to a 07 Speedster. I see my bilge pump button but what IS a bilge pump and when do it use it? In the water or not in water? Before/ during/ after boating? Sorry for the dumb question but I'm learning everyday and enjoying the heck out of my SeaDoo! Now back to getting the rope out of my engine....

I've been reading a lot of info, including the manual, but couldn't find to much on what the pump is and when to use. I will go through it again and maybe spend more time on it this time.

You're not being a d!ck....it's a good comment

Its just a pump for getting water out of your bilge. Water gets in there when it splashes into the boat or when something bad happens like a leak in the hull or you forget to put the plug in at the launch ramp.

It comes on automatically when it is submerged, it has a float switch in it.

It can also be turned on manually via the dash. It is wired straight to the battery so that it can come on even if your battery switch is off. If it rains and your boat isnt covered while sitting in the yard, it can kill the battery.

Have fun with your boat.

if you dont hear it kick on, when install'n landyard key/turn battery switch on, then yeah, i'd turn switch when you remember too.

It's okay to turn on when in or out of water, correct?
Thanks so much, really appreciate you repling to all these little (dumb)questions everybody!

Turn it on 3 times

When your fist in the water to make sure your bilge is empty-plus it'll help you remember you didnt put your butt plug in too!

Turn it on mid journey incase youve taken some water in

Turn it on as your headin back to the dock-look over the rear side and see how mauch water it pumps out-may give you a heads up to a problem

Its a manual thing for the most part, in big woodden boats sometimes they have many to keep the bilge water down as those boats are leakey.
