I just bought a 2003 GTX di, took it for a spin......ran great. Get it home,go to start it.......won't go. Put the lanyard on...get 2 beeps.........hit and hold the Start button, tries to turn over and then beeps continuously as long as I have the Start button pushed in......Am I missing something? This thing has only 11hrs. on it. Pulled the batttery and put it on the charger and all is good.

Any Suggestions?

I'd say fuel valve, but i'm not sure the DI's have one... do they? it's a common mistake... do you have gas in it? often the guage go, and report full when it's out... oil tank full?

does it actually turn over? an 03 with 11 hours? a rebuild or was this thing in storage?

IF it's not turning over, remove the plugs and try again.

you can also pull the RAVE sliders to get a good view into the combustion chamber.

(2 5mm bolts on each) (everything on the ski is metric) allen bolts, i think they have blue caps on the DIs, above the exhaust pipe.

remove the seat holder and you can get to the pto cover, with the plugs out, and lanyard OFF, you should be able to spin the engine... can you?

DO NOT JUMP the battery while it's ATTACHED TO THE SKI, you will fry the MPEM, and spend a lot more $ than you planned on... :) just saying since you are new :)

The guy bought them new in 2003 (one Waverunner also) and rarely used them. No rebuild. When you put the lanyard on, you can hear the fuel injection ( I am assuming by the sound) turn on. You push the start button..it tries to turn over, but won't go. Then if I hit (and hold)the start button again.....nothing but continuous beeps. I have to remove and replace the lanyard for it to turn over again. I tried puting a new battery in and it does the same thing. Could be the MPEM fuse?, I only have the operators manual. I looks like that fuse may be in the back of the bilge

I would have the battery load tested first. Sometimes there is enough power in the battery to turn the ski on but not enough to turn the motor over. Like in your car when the battery will turn on the lights or radio but will not start the car. Most auto parts stores will test it for free.

1 long beep is usually a low battery. Have it charged and load tested. Since you are new...make sure to charge it while disconnected from the ski. Out of the ski is even better and never try to jump the ski.

I checked all the fuses and tried a brand new battery that turns the Yamaha Waverunner over no problem...stumped!

Check the battery cables for corrosion, pos. and neg., twist the cable, if it crunches the cable is corroded. Also check the connections at the battery and grounds. Make sure the connections at the solenoid and starter are tight and no corrosion.

It still won't turn over...it does try but it won't go. I bought a brand new battery, after checking the leads. No corrosion, they are like new. The only thing I did to this was fill it up with gas and oil (getting ready to put them away for the winter). Here is what I am doing;

Put the lanyard on (2 beeps) this is good!
Hook up the hose........ turn it on
Hit the start button...you get a clunk!
Hold the start button down.............it tries to turn over, but won't.
If I hold the start button down, it almost turns over. If I hold it down for 10 seconds I noticed smoke coming out of the battery vent

Any ideas? Thanks.

you turn the hose on before starting the ski? that's a no no. you may have it hydrolocked. take the spark plugs out and crank it (without the hose) and see it water shoots out he sparkplug holes.

you filled the motor with water, that's why it won't turn over. you need to get the water out asap or your motor will be ruined.
