So about a month and a half ago i was riding my 95XP all the sudden it made a noise to make a long story short i popped the seat off and it had taken on a lot of water the bolts had fallen out of the pipe. This happened at the end of August but due to working and a very busy schedule i hadn't had any time to mess with it until today. I charged the battery went to turn it over and it wont even crank over appears to be seized up? Could this be from sitting with the salt water in it? i tried to drain it as best as possible when it happened and hose it out. Any input would be very helpful, thanks

If it had salt water in it and it didn't get rinsed out it might be seized. Spray some PB plaster or add some marvel mystery oil in it to see if works free. Pull the spark plugs out and see if you can turn the engine over by hand at the PTO in a counter clockwise direction.

If you get water in your engine you must IMMEDIATELY get it out by popping off the plugs and turning it over and over.

.

yea its done for i tried putting the oil in turning it by hand wont budge. Even if i did get it running i don't think the rings would last long from the salt water residue on the cylinder walls.

Work it!....

I dont' know. You'd be surprised what these motors can take.

You may have the very beginning of a motor wanting to seize but, it's only been a few months. So, it can't be set in tight yet.

Take off the shaft protector on the back of the motor. Take out both plugs and pour in some PB blaster (about an ounce per cylinder) in them. Then, with that guard off, get a small pipe wrench or large channel locks (no vise grips) and see if you can rock that shaft back and forth. If you get it to wiggle, you'll likely get it to break loose. If you do, pour in another ounce of your 2 cycle lubricating oil, through the plug holes.

Then, try and used the starter motor to roll it over. Once it rolls over, blow all the oil out best you can. Pour about a coke cap full of gas into each cylinder. No oil, since you'll have lubrication already in it. Then, try to get a start.

If it starts, it may only run until the gas you put in has burnt off. If it continues to run, shut it off till you connect the water hose.

Now, you might just have a motor running again..........what do you have to lose............
