I don't know about you guys but I'm growing a little weary of serious threads. So I thought I would start one that was not so serious. We've pretty much killed oil threads, wear rings, cavitation, grey fuel lines, compression, fatty gas filters, etc, etc.

So I thought this thread we could talk about favorite years, favorite skis, maybe even some problem skis, even (dare I say it) mistakes that SeaDoo has made.

I'll start it out by saying 1996, three of my favorite ski's, 96XP, 96GSX, 96GTI, this was a transition year, completely new GSX, GTX, refined 96XP, and the last of the great cruisers the 96GTI, this of course is my opinion and I am open to discussion (even though I am right) LOL. 1996 was truly a banner year for SeaDoo.

Great thread Lou.
Almost like PPE x4 thread.

But I think all you did was list whats in your garage....

But I'll add and confirm your findings.

95-96 XP for sure.
The 96 GTI had a good run but changed to GTS in 97 to 2001.
The newer GTI hull started in 97

edit: lou always right. typo

Oscar,

Thanks for the response.

Well they're not all in my garage my 95XP800 is in a friends garage at the lake. I can't help it if I have excellent taste, take a look at Sheridan. BTW the newer GTI hull started in 97, probably a typo on your part since I know you have one.

^ fixed.
Lou, I actually picked up another GTI for a friend project/flip. Haven't decided.

well i have very little exposure to other skis but I do love my '96 GSX too. My '97 GSX is pretty much identical to the '96 but the '96 did not have a speedometer so I'm going to give the nod to the '97.

i was going to say 97, it was probably the best year for the GSX 787 (the unreliable 951 gsxl's are technically 98 models) the new wishbone xp came out, but you could still get the spx with the x4 hull and 787 engine. the last year for the 787 GTX with the newer hull, also the GTI got the updated hull but kept the old reliable 718.

while 96 had the XP X4 787, the gti and gts were basically the same ski, one with slightly more bells and whistles than the other but same hull/engine. so looking at it from a "whole range" view, the 97 model year was probably the best as far as performace and reliability go. if i were a bigger fan of the 951 i might say 99 or 00 since they worked the kinks out of the early 951s, and the 787 became fuel injected (not my fave, but better than DI) and it was before the DI 951 came around. also the RX came out in 00, so i guess it would get the nod there.

Sorry, but have to say it... The 99 spx, 787 the last x4 hull, fuel accelerator pump added to the carbs (not sure if that was on the 98). 97 doesn't have it, and of course the best colors black and yellow. Yes it's on my owned list, but that's why I bought it lol.

Also like the 98gsx (blue and red), great looking one.

I see the newer hulls on my lake like the 97XP and up, I like the look, but as my brother and I are ripping around on the x4 hull flying off waves as they plow away we just laugh. Ha ha
