Sadly im selling my challenger (2009 230 se) to purchase a bigger boat. What is the best web site to post an add for selling a boat? I did include it here, but I'm curious what others have used in the past.

Thanks for the help.

BoatTrader.com is good.. we run SeaDooClassifieds.com through this forums software and it should be easy to list it here too. Traffic on the site has gone up quite a bihe last year or so too.

Ive bought and sold both of my sea doo boats using craigslist. I know a lot of people are willing to travel or ship a boat. I bought my speedster 200 from 1500 miles away using craigslist. I think it works just as good as any place else and its free.

Ebay too, it's a fastest website to sell the big item, but the final fee and Paypal fee is painful.

I would list it both on BoatTrader and Craigs List. Personally I have found Craigs List a better place to buy than to sell. I've got some great deals on CL, I bought a 96GSX, the guy thought the motor was bad, turned out to be the regulator.

Personally I think buyers on CL are looking for steals, I know I do, buyers on BoatTrader are more serious buyers, especially when they're looking for premium boats, like yours.

lou hit it on the head.

you might have other options, but besides Ebay, there isn't much, (ebay is worthy of consideration, but the fee's are pretty high, which would make using a consignment lot worthy of consdieration as well) I remember searching for reasonably priced options before, but CL and BT have the corner on the market, the other sites that I found had so little traffic it was embarrassing. you might want to check with your local news paper, some people still check those...

with that said, I don't really think CL buyers are looking for garage sale prices (steals & deals) I think the regular joe looking for good product, good price is there as well.

ps.. i've sold a lot of ski's / cars and a boat in the past 2 years...

The one thing I forgot to mention, either park it in a bank parking lot over the weekend on a busy corner (just leave your car there with it) or put a for sale sign and drive it around, I sold one of my ski's by parking it with a sign in the yacht club parking lot, figured that had the highest concentration of boat owners in my city. Many people think selling a ski/boat is easy, (list it on CL and wait for the phone to ring) but I remember having to put a dam lot of work into it, used to tow it with me to the grocery store in the afternoons, weekends, listed on BT a couple of times, used the local paper, and parked them on weekends. ps... keeping it minty clean is a key as well, most other sellers don't, so your's will get recognition for being spotless., and will sell faster

Boat Trader is certainly the #1 option. Anybody serious about buying / researching a boat at least looks there. I found both my current boats on there. Craigslist is worth considering, but you may get some wackos replying. The comment above about making the boat visible is also a good one, as I always get attention and positive comments when trailering the boat. For security, I would also run a cable lock or chain through the wheels & frame of the trailer. The tongue locks can be easily defeated. Of course, a full value insurance claim for theft is as good as a sale! LOL.

LOL at theft, ya I thought that on my last sale of my old lexus, that i'd probably get more out of a Steal than I would out of a Sale. Tongue locks are a bit of a joke IMO
