beginner question symptoms when your fuel tank almost empty

Finally I took my boat for the first time .I wanted to burn the old gas from the last owner half a tank
The gauge was almost at empty and the boat at full throttle started to hesitate but never died is it because the tank was almost empty because the boat run fine for 3 hour straight

Low fuel in many skis/boats will create a decrease in RPMs. Built in by design. This makes the engine run at a more efficient rate as compared to high RPMs where you use more fuel.
