Hey everyone,

I got an odd question. Whenever i snap on the key to my seadoo, sometimes it will beep telling me my key is there and other times it won't beep? Any ideas?

More information needed.........

A little more info may help out.

When you attach the lanyard, you should get 2 beeps, this signals the ski is ready to start.

Your second statement is that, sometimes you don't get any beeps. Well, when you don't get any beeps, does the ski still start?

If you get 2 beeps and the ski starts, other times you get no beeps and the ski wont' start....this can be your post. If you don't get the two beeps and you pull the lanyard off and put it on, several times, then get the beeps, it's the post...........you'll need to buy a new one. This is a simple replacement and needs no special tools........

Click on this link and you should be able to find your post. http://www.seadoowarehouse.com/

Only if your symtoms are as described above, may your post be bad....

Real quick info...........the lanyard cap has a ROM (read only memory) chip inside of it, that when connected to the post, which is magnetic and the communication between the ROM and the MPEM, will you be able to make up the signal to the DESS and get a start. If the magnet in the post becomes weak, you'll have a problem communicating with the mpem. It's very sporadic. It will get to the point that when your riding, the engine will shut off.............

Sorry for the lack of information on my previous post.

So for more information, when i snap the lanyard onto the seadoo most of the time it will beep twice and start right up like normal. Other times it will not beep and all and i can still start the seadoo without a problem. I have never really had a problem getting the seadoo started, it was just kinda annoying how sometimes it would beep twice and other times it wouldn't beep at all. I just didn't know if this meant maybe there was a low battery or something. Do you still think my actual post is bad on my seadoo?

Good post..........

No, that only pertained if you were also having a starting problem, with no beeps......

With the age of the ski and maybe a lot of water in or around the buzzer/beeper, I think you just may be getting ready to need a new one.

KustomKarl found one at radio shack a few months ago, so you don't have to spend a fortune in getting a brand model type.

The bottom line is, if the seadoo is starting, without the beeps, the ROM chip is communicating with the mpem, your just not receiving audible beeps.

Don't worry about it, unless you just want to replace it........now, if the engine runs hot, you'll want to hear those audible beeps.........so, look at radio shack for a 12 VDC beeper, that will serve the purpose..............
