Hello, I replaced old beeper for 97 challenger with one from Radio shack. Beeper works when attached to the battery, but not when attached to the wiring. I cant get a meter reading from the wiring.

How are you testing it? The buzzer would obviously need to be going off for the meter to show a reading. The easiest way to do that is to ground the temp sensor.

I'm trying to see if there is a short in the wire and if I can replace it if there is. Trying to trace it back to find out why there is no juice to the wire.

What I’m asking is whether you had the temp sensor grounded when you had the meter on the buzzer wiring. If you didn’t, the voltage will only spike for a very short time when you put the key on the post and then go back to zero.

Can you do a continuity test on the buzzer wiring all the way from the actual buzzer connection to the MPEM?

I’m not good with electrical stuff,I do have a meter not sure how to check. A friend of mine was the one who told me there was no power.

Well I could try to walk you through how to do a continuity test, but not knowing what meter you’ve got or having it in front of me to look at, it would probably be easiest to ask a buddy who knows his way around DC electricity for some help to perform the test...

What you are looking for is confirmation that the flow of current through those wires is reaching from the MPEM to the buzzer itself. Your meter should have the ability to do that, but it’s probably best if you have someone run through how to do it in person...
