Just thought about doing this as a mod for those odd times when the the Beeper doesn't beep but everything works anyways.

What about adding an LED and resistor in parallel with the beeper for a visual reference for when the key is accepted.

I've thought about it as well. It would be an easy add on.

My skis are in like new condition so I decided to wait.

once upon a time there was a multifunction gauge that gave you fuel level, and had 4 warning lights, for low voltage, low oil, low fuel, and overheat. the overheat light comes on along with the buzzer when you ground the temp sensor wire.

its a good idea to have a super bright dummy light, as you (or more likely, your friends) might not notice an issue while riding until the thing locks up solid.

mmmmmm, could this gauge be installed on other skis. What wiring would be needed?, to where, etc?

your skis should both have the info center, which replaced the multi-gauge and should have the same functions, but it has i think like a 6 or 8- pin connector plus a power plug, and its about twice as long as a regular gauge. trying to remember if the 96 GTIs i looked at had the multi gauge or just a fuel gauge with low oil light and speedo. i guess you could put one in that application but you'd have to change out the plugs and know your way around the wiring diagram.

I'd imagine it would be part of the gauge wiring harness, however if you picked up one of those gauges, it looks like you would be able to tap into the signal wires from the gas, oil, and overtemp sensors, and it probably has a built in voltmeter that will light up when voltage drops below spec. If I were to wire my ski, I would just pick up some 4 wire trailer wire, or network cable (wires are thinner though) and just heatshrink and solder all the connections.

If I ever pick up an older ski with a gauge pod, I would love to install an actual engine temperature gauge (that way i could see the gauge rise and back off the throttle, before its too late) I've got a parts skidoo kicking around. Just going to extend the wires. Now to find another ski.. lol

I think that by the time the overheat sensor kicks in that its almost too late.

Might be a good idea to use a car horn and a relay. Instead of a beeper :-D

I made a voltage and temp display from some simple LED meters that I had around. They work nice on my GS.

It would be very easy to add a temperature gauge.

Either tap a hole or add an adapter and you would be good to go, especially if you install a manual gauge. An electric one would be easy as well, just a bit more to it but still a simple task.
