So a buddy of mine at work has told me abou tthis product called Keel-Shield. He uses it on his bass boat, so when he beaches it, he won't scratch up the bottom. But it's pretty expensive!!! (See link)

Has anyone tried this? I do beach mine alot. Usually when i go with friends, we are constantly pulling it on and off the beach, as we take turns with it through the day. It's fine sand, not rocky. Do ya think i need this??

Yeah if you scroll down the page you will see the drop down box where you select the length. 1 foot is the minumum.

I decided to go with the Transomshield. It's basically 12mil 3M clear overlay. 5" X 105" so i'll have plenty. Got it on Amazon for $30 for the roll!! I figure for just sand, it'll be tough enough. And i'll have enough to re-do it at a later date if it starts to wear through.

Sorry I didn't see the drop down box ...so I just figured it was by the basic length. The sounds like a better deal, at a good price too.

WOOHOO!!! I can finally chime in about something that I have exp in.

The keelguard from west marine is worth every penny at least on a boat. We have several customers that have it, and they swear by it. I have seen it fend off rocks, sand, and even random floating debris at speed.
I have it on our aluminum jet boat, and our cost to repair dents and dings in our keel every summer has dropped from around a grand, to about $100 per year. We really take our Customweld where it should not go, to get to some of our customers on the water, and in the process, we used to damage our keel several times a season. Now on the other hand, MOST of the time we have nothing to repair. Yes, sometimes sharp rocks will cut through the keepguard, but it costs less to repair/replace that than fix dings, dents, and slashes in our hull....

As for our jets skis, they will both be getting this as soon as we stop playing with them daily :hurray:

I will report back later this summer as to how well Keelguard works on our skis.
