Last time out, boat went into limp mode. Battery was dead but is a new battery. Recharged and started. Multimeter reading only 12.6 while engine is running so clearing not charging. Checked all the fuses on MPEM and in box where the plug cables go and all are fine.

I have seen the rectifier is a common issue. Is there an easy way to test that device? I am novice with all things electrical.

There isn't an easy way to check the regulator/rectifer, so we check everything else first.

1) Use a meter, and verify the stator in the engine.
2) Make sure the fuse is good.
3) Check over the wires, and maker sure nothing is loose, or corroded.

If that all checks... replace the regulator.

I just went through the same issue. Mine was sporatic in which it would work once it warmed up. I gave the old voltage regulator a good whack with a hammer which seemed to fix it temporarily as well, i still ended up buying a new voltage reg and the issue hasnt returned since!
