Hey everyone, my first post here but I've been lurking in the background for a few weeks now.
Last summer I test drove a 180 SE and loved it was only at the helm for 10 or 15 minutes but after looking at a bunch of 18 foot boats I knew the challenger was the boat for me. Only thing holding me back was I had just gotten divorced about 18 months earlier and that was still holding back my credit score, so the deal was off.
My local dealer has brand new 08 and 09 base model 180s for $21k (CAN) or 09 SE models around $28k. SeaDoo Canada just put out a deal to take an extra $3000 of 08/09 stock so that will cover the taxes.
So here is where I'm stuck, does spending an extra $7,000 for the SE model really worth it? The covers and tops would be an extra and there is no carpeting. But I'm sure I could add that as well.
The major loss is the extra 40hp? I know I'll loose some top end speed, but going fast just burns gas right?(thats the sailor in me) The boat is mostly for just getting out and enjoying the water ways, maybe a little tubing.
This would be a no brainer based on MSRP because the SE is only an extra $2200, and this is most likely the reason they have some 08 base models sitting around and why they have cut the price so much.
