Bailer stoppers?

Hi guys,

I'm changing out the wear ring on my port side pump and while inspecting the bailer passages I noticed there are what appear to be stopper plugs installed into the bailer passage between the hull and the pump. Should these be there? (see attached photo) The shop manual makes no reference to them. Any suggestions would be very much appreciated. The boat is a 2008 Challenger 230 310hp.

I’m right in the middle of replacing wear rings & impellers on my 2010 210 challenger with 155’s & here are what mine look like. Port then starboard

Thank you! That helps, I guess they aren't used on the Challenger.
Any chance you pulled your impellers too? if so do you know the part number of the tool you used? The one listed in my shop manual fits the larger engines and drive shafts but not for the 155's.

If you purchased an OEM wear ring they have been updated to a blue color. Part number: 267000419. I couldn't get the new ring pressed in, even after putting it in the freezer. On a recommendation from the Sea-doo tech he told me the factory recommends you grind down with a Dremel a 1/4" of the lip then press it in with a press before hammering. I made a make shift press using threaded bar stock and 2 4x4's. With it I was able to press the entire wear sleeve in without a hammer.

Ugh. That sounds awful. Thanks for the heads up. That’s the same wear ring I have to put in. Got the impeller tool on order.

Hmm. I just did my wear rings a few months back and I didn't have to modify anything. Froze the ring and it popped right in. I went with OEMs as well.

Just got my impeller tool & got back to work on my two impeller & wear ring replacements & got to say if you have the 155 hp engine/pump size just order the WR011 impeller tool from amazon for $14 instead of the Sea-Doo version for $40. Also, I found that I too had to sand down the wear ring to get them started. They wouldn’t go even frozen, so I ground them down then froze & then when aligned evenly they would hammer in. Have to say they are pain to take out too. Of course maybe that’s because mine were damaged. I saw videos of guys freezing the whole pump & then just sliding them in & out. I wasn’t so fortunate.

That's how I did mine. Stuck the pump in the freezer for an hour. Heated up the pump with a heat gun while pulling up on the wear ring edges......popped right out. Popped the new one in right after. Done. I've had way more difficulty on past skis, but our boat was a breeze. I guess I lucked out.

I froze the pump in the freezer for 2 hours then heat the metal case with a torch and the white sleeve popped right out by hand. No such luck with the new blue rings. I suspect these blue ones will need to be cut out when its time to swap them out given how difficult they were to press in. Not looking forward to it when the time comes.
