Well after selling my 2008 Challenger at the end of last summer, the urge to get back on the water too great so I just bought a 2005 Speedster 200 from Boulder boats in NV, spent 4-5 days on Lake Mead and a couple on the strip while I was down there picking the boat up and it performed pretty damn good. Has a few cosmetic flaws, like 4-5 upholstery issues that I need to fix/replace and one of the windshields had snapped off at the rear bracket, but not a major issue for me. The battery failed after the 2nd day on the lake so got myself a replacement and we seem good to go. More worrying is that the wakeboard tower appears to have been welded just above where the cross bracket comes out towards the rear of the boat, then I see the recall thread in the stickies on this forum!! Is there any updates with that thread? Maybe I will get a new tower? Also the ski pylon is missing in the boat so I will need to try and source a new one.

Anyway, good to be back, look forward to hopefully not having to post here with my issues.....

New tower

Well I think thats good news, I had concerns about a weld job that had been done on my tower and noticed the recall notice on the stickies on this forum, called and it appears that my tower was never replaced/repaired so the recall is still outstanding, so looks like I may get a new tower afterall, wonder what their practise is for the speakers etc that the tower is wired for? Once again Seadooforum comes up trumps !!!!

Welcome back!!!! I didnt realize you left.

Guess its hard to tell with us Cannucks as the boat could just be getting out of storage after our usual Arctic winter!!

Ah well, guess its not as easy as it seems to get the new tower, spoke to my local seadoo dealer (who I must admit I had not had a great experience with during my previous ownership!!) and because I bought the boat down in the States they claim I have to get it repaired/replaced down there they say the main reason is because that US BRP and Canadian BRP are 2 separate companies......... outstanding ............

Call BRP. Explain to them that you bought the boat during a visit to your family's winter home in the US. You did not register the boat because you do not own the property in the US. You plan on using the boat on both sides of border.

You may also want to remind them that this is a Safety Recall regardless of where the boat is at this present time the risk to injury to you and your passengers is the same.

I think that they will be more than happy to assist you.

That is an excellent point logan's, I will make a call today and let everyone know what there response is

Thanks

Well, after a little tooing and frowing I decided to call Seadoo Canada direct and see what they had to say, they advised me that the Canadian dealership must honor the safety recall and put notes on their system accordingly, I plan on going there early next week and getting them to order up the necessary parts as I dont want to leave the boat with them for 2-3 weeks while they screw around waiting for parts as we only get 60 days of summer up here in the frozen north :banghead: (well maybe thats a small exageration but it sure seems like it!)
