I test drove a 2003 Islandia with my friend and my boat yard guy yesterday. When we started it we got a 3 beep alarm intermittenly. Once we got it up to speed the alarm stopped, for a while, then changed to a intermittent 4 beep alarm. Motor seemed to run fine, maybe a bit of a slight miss but it is a 2 cycle, and I am a saior, so what do I know? Both oil tanks appeared full, no other issues noted, didd not over heat. Anyone have a clue what these beeps mean? The codes seem to be treated like nuclear launch codes. Thanks.

I'm not sure what the 3 beeps mean, you are right about the nuclear launch codes! Even with my manual I find it hard to decipher the beeps, and for some reason the beeps my boat emits don't always match the manual (and yes I have the correct one).

4 Beeps for a 2003 2-stroke can mean low battery voltage which can also manifest in an engine miss as you described as you may not be getting a good spark. I would check that your regulator/charging system is working OK.
