I'm looking to buy a Challenger, but today I spoke with friend who's had a 2007 Challenger 180 SE and has had nothing but trouble. Wire corrosion leading to repeated engine failures, etc. Had to have whole system replaced this last summer. He says he has another friend with similar problems who sold his boat in the first year.

Is this common, or isolated? Could this purely be a result of using the boats exclusively in salt water?

Thanks

I think its a result of bad maintenance. Done rip'n it around, put on trailer, other than that, takes 5min to flush it, and depend'n ur routine on cleaning for next outing, some time there. If use in salt water, not bad idea to spray everything down with lithium grease..motor, linkage, pump..etc, every-other outing. Sorry dude, dont mean to blast ur buddy....

:agree: Maintenance is the key to anything. I would spray everything down with silicone spray or wd-40. Spray grease will leave a mess and hold onto the water partials. Silicone or wd-40 displace the water and protect against corrosion. I buy both by the case lot and my engines and jet pump assy are always clean, corrosion free and dry. its just cheap insurance.
