is there anyway of telling if a 787 has been rebuilt? my cooling line popped off the pump so the motor was flooding and overheating..now down to 70 psi..yesterday is was at 150..sucks. the bottom of the motor should have stayed cool since the compartment was flooding but the top was melting the plastic tubes off and cracking the paint off the exaust. the motor is now brown instead of white. now i am going to do a top end rebuild or a full rebuild. i dont see a need of doing the bottom end if has been done before is there a way to check? btw my motor is the one without the oil filler on the back of the engine.

Only ways to tell if it has been rebuilt is if the paint off the head bolts, not a real good way to tell but it's a potential way to tell if someone has at least been in there before, unless they painted the engine. Or, if they bored and installed over size pistons. They will be stamped on the tops. If they're oversized OEM 82.14, if they're standard bore and OEM pistons they will read 81.89. If they're aftermarket pistons they're usually stamped .010, or .020 etc... With that much water in there you'll probably want to complete dismantle the entire engine since there is no way do verify it water got into the counter balance oil. Also, if you can see the gaskets color at the base of the cylinders, they all should be the engine color, still not the best way to tell but.... You'll just have to tear into it.
