My sportster has some rash on the front on the V hull from being run onto the sand......the main area has wore through the gel coat quite a bit and I was wondering what your thoughts were on simply putting on a keel guard to stop and cover the wear or would you suggest I do a gel coat repair before I put keel guard on? Keel guard affect the water intake on the boats or any draw backs?

I would get marine epoxy and fill the holes in the gel coat first. Then use your keel protector.

I have used them on my military combat boats for years with no issues. Mostly Boston Whaler hulls.

I purchased it from Bass Pro Shop and put it on my boat last weekend...... Looks good!
Remember its 5" wide and you do have to sand lightly before installation. I found a past thread on here and actual purchased the same color and size (5').
My kit also also came with a chrome metal plate to protect the boat from the trailer hook.

I just kinda halfway read your post and I read it as combat boots, I've got an old pair from when I was in the service. Should I use keel guard on my combat boots too?

I went back and read it just to make sure it didn't type boots.

I would think that if you do use it on your boots it would prolong the life of your soles. LOL

I'd like to see a pic if you can post it. How much was it?
