I know there's a forum member here who offers DESS key programing service for the older two stroke MPEM models.
Is there anyone here who offers a key service for the newer 4-stroke ECUs?

I don't need a key made to per se, But I do need to verify that my ECU is functioning properly and the keys that I have are properly coded to the ECU. I am troubleshooting a DESS issue and I'd like to rule out the ECU as a problem.

what i would do is buy a candoo yourself or find some one to share....
with the candoo system this forum and the candoo forum, i would say you can at least solve most problems and control your costs better. with the candoo you can also assign keys to the boat, learner limit a dess key etc.
1) you forgot which codes or how many. 2) you dont have a spare key or if your current one is matched or faulty. 3)future fault finding. 4) how much each time it cost you to the mechanic for just fault finding and key matching.

I have actually already had it hooked up to a candoopro. The details of that are discussed in this thread:

yes i replied to answer both threads. you can either go to a seadoo shop or use a candoo.....

Just so I'm clear on what I need, I'm troubleshooting a DESS issue with the boat. The last thing I've done is brought it to a Seadoo mechanic and had it hooked to a candoopro. he advised me of a code for bad DESS post. He also advised that the candopro was having trouble communicating with the ECU and he thinks the ECU may be going bad.

I would like to verify that my ECU is working properly before I spend $1000 on a new one.

Am I missing something? Is there something more that can be done with a candoopro?

which codes are active?
there could be other reasons for mis-communication with ecu. it might be the dess post or bad wiring so if you replace the dess post, you have to take it some where to check for other faults (ecu). if you have or share a candoo, you can check faults, clear faults, reprogram keys.
i would thought the mechanic verified the key when checking the faults.

what boat you have?

from candoo forum for ecu check '08...

Check the F3 fuse in the engine fuse block. This powers the ECU on the engine. B-11 should power the ecu when the key is on...

Check the grounds going to the ECU with an ohm meter B-1, B-2, B-32, B-41
if grounds check ok maybe bad ecu

I don't know the exact code. The mechanic said it was the fault code for the DESS post. I tested the post though and it tested good.

He did. He stated that the key was programmed to the ECU and he also programmed an additional key to the ECU

I have an 06 challenger. I have 12 V at terminal B-11 with the key on.I have continuity to ground from terminals B1 B2 B32 and B41. Thank you for that info that helps narrow it down.

I think I'm having a continuity issue from the post wiring harness to the ECU terminal. I'm not sure that I'm doing the test correctly . I should be getting a shop manual in the next couple of days.
