Its been trying to snow over here in England and its forcast for this weekend. We have had a months rain in a couple of days in parts of the country and these places are suffering with flood damage and broken bridges.
I was out yesterday in the cold 8 degrees, up the river Tyne Newcastle with another skier.
We cruised up stream for 5 miles and cruised downstream 12 miles. All suited and booted up with dry suit and MX helmet on.
It was well worth it but the wind chill was terrible on finger throttle and toes. But what an experience.:D
We have a fancy dress outing on December the 27th in the North Sea.:stupid::ack:

Anyone been out in the cold and enjoyed/regreted it?

Have you got snow?

I did it the first year we had the XP. My parents left for Christmas and we got their beach house to watch the dogs and cat, and I took the ski out several times over that week. Full suit, just tennis shoes, and gloves. Tried to keep my head dry to avoid wind chill.

It was just as much fun as ever, but I could only take about 30-45 minutes each time before I had to get out.

There was no snow that year, and we seldom get snow. But is was probably cold enough for it, just sunny and clear skies.

I was out lat year in March, I don't remember what the temperature was but I know it was as cold as I ever been in. I was in a full 3/2 wet suite with gloves and a winter hat, big mistake was I had nothing on the feet, I was out for about 15 min and was done, I thought I was going to lose my toes, but was it worth it yes because it was my first time on my new to me ski.

Yeah toes are the worst to suffer cold. Need to invent something LoL. I tried the hand warmers on a Yamaha XLt 1200 and just didn't like the warm sometimes hot water in my face.
Its going to be cold here tomorrow but with waves like 8ft high at 11second intervals. Should be a good session for jumping.:)

The guy I went skiing with yesterday just had a 3/2 suit on and beach shoes. I did feel abit sorry for him and kept an eye on him every few seconds. I had socks on rubber over socks and boots and it was bad.

There comes a time when having fun, isn't any fun...:ack:

Back in my racing days, in Upstate N.Y. I used ride till Christmas eve...I had a heated shed where I kept my stand-ups...I wore a Jet Pilot dry suite too, I had a window of 35 minutes when I was done, to get out of the water and in the shed before all was frozen...Just barely above freezing. Yeah I miss those days....well maybe not, it's never colder here in Florida then 62* in the winter...
I wouldn't mind being in my 20's/ 30's again though.

Snow skis....

Dave, as Karl put it, theres a time to admit when having fun really isn't any fun!.....

I'm a big wuss. When I only had my motorcycle as sole transportation, I would dress out in newspaper and plastic. Then put on my clothes. That was the best insulation I ever rode in. I couldn't see using that in the water though.

I've long since (10 years ago) given up the bike and now, ride to work on those chilly days in my truck, with a heater in it!........

For those temps, I think I would be looking to heading up the mountain with a pair of skis............

We are getting a blizzard tomorrow night...and no, it is not the good stuff from Dairy Queen. 8 to 10 inches tomorrow with a few more on Thursday. The kicker is that it is calling for 40 mph wind as an added fun!!!

But I can't complain...it is Wisconsin weather. I might have to get smart and move down to Florida. Hey Craig, any house in your neighborhood for sale?!!

My seadoo is tucked away in a heated garage waiting for spring/summer to return. Its actually cold here in california.

I was surprised o see it was bad in California. not just in the mountains.

I hear what your saying Louis, me and a few of theguys are abit mental for skiing this time of year. We have snow fall here now. And on the 27th of December we go out sking in fancy dress.
I'll have to get some photo's for to show you all.

i wish my ski was ready i would have been up for a mister blobby in the north sea lol i might pop up and get a few pics myself i phoned up scotland and you only get 2 year warranty and he quoted me about £2500 -£3000 to do repairs and only 6 month warranty after that so im still loking but il be up and running for the new season to come

Polar Bears....

You guys remind me of this place up North, don't remember where they do it... But, every year, when it's freezing and snowing, these northerners go to some river or lake, with pretty much nothing on but a skimpy bathing suit and jump in the water..... Brrrrrrrrr.... I can't imagine jumping in water when the outside temp is 32* or lower. These people must have a mental issue.

I think they call it something like the "polar plunge". If I remember right, it's a yearly tradition.

For me, in the south, stuffing my face with Ham at Christmas is a yearly tradition. I think I'll stick to that one.

And Dave, .......... Your already a nut case.. Sitting on a time bomb that blew up. Surprised your still ridin the thing! Did you ever fix that ski that blew on you? Or did you dump it for parts?.........

Only in the winter time do the crazies in us come out..........(I guess it's cause we got nutin else to do...LOL)

The polar bear plunge...I'm going into hypothermia just thinking about it...

I rebuilt that same ski. It needed te top and bottom hulls joined and new bumper strip. New hood and seat post. The ski suffers from stress fractures in the gell coat. But runs and stays water tight. :)

I think the last time I was out was late october, and for me it was COLD. There was NO one else out on the lake and most boats out of the water for the coming winter. It poured rain and was freezing but the wind had been crazy all was and the waves on lake ontario were absolute nuts. Couldnt resist.. Couldnt feel my toes either by the time I went back in to load up. ahaha.

I was in Lake Ontario early October 07 on a thing called a Hippo bus. Flat water in the harbour but choppy as, out in the Lake. Tee shirt weather then which I thought was very strange for that time of year.

I wouldn't like to go in it this time of year, probably a sheet of ice.
