Hello everyone!

I have been using bel-ray oil in my bikes for years so i thought about using it in my seadoo. There marine grade 2 cycle oil says its recommended for API TC uses. I know thats what is recommended to use in these seadoo's but i was wondering if there marine oil is any good?

The reason I am asking this is because where i work we sell Bel-Ray oil so I can get it at cost as appose to paying stealership prices on the xps. You guys let me know what you think. Heres the link to the oil. http://www.belray.com/marine-racing-2-stroke-engine-oil

Back in the day... I use to burn Bel-Ray PJ1 Gold fire. But... it was discontinued, so I changed to 927 and never looked back.

Now... to answer your question (and the reson I stopped using Bel-Ray) that is NOT EVEN CLOSE to being an API-TC oil.

1) It is impossible to be dual rated. (API and TC-w)
2) It's "Ashless" and therefor can not be API-TC certified.
3) it's "Recommended" as JASO-FC/API-TC but it's not "Certified"

There is no way that oil would aver pass the JASO or API certification. It takes metal salts to pass... and that leaves an ash.

So... Nope. Don't use it.

Just to add what i said about the spectro. I just looked and it has the seadoo logo on the bottle. and it says low ash! yes thats good news because where i work is a spectro dealer:thumbsup:

The spectro looks good, it might overkill for your ski because it's full synthetic, do they make a synthetic blend, it would be cheaper.

Yes lol synthetic is overkill unfortunately spectro doesn't make semi or mineral. I will have to check the prices tomorrow when I goto work. But because I am getting it at our cost It shouldn't be as bad.

I'm just fed up with paying brp dealership prices for xps oil and my local brp dealer is awful i ordered parts from them about 2 months ago and i call them every 2 weeks.....there excuse is it's still snowmobile season so parts are not in yet! But yet there has only been about 3 snowfalls all winter where i live.. I told the guy forget it i will go somewhere else.

That oil shoudl be good. It's JASO- F"D". That's an even more stringent test of 2-stroke oil than FC.

If it's really been tested... It should be good. And Spectro has a good rep.

If you can get it at a good price... give it a try.

Just as an FYI... where do you work?

Not to rub it in... but I've found that the XPS oil is a huge profit for the dealers. I've been buying Synth XPS for $38/gal

I finally ended up ordering the spectro yesterday. Looks like it will be good so i will give it a try and see how it works out. It was $45 Canadian. all 2 brp dealers in my area want $60 for a gallon of full synthetic! thats why I hate paying there prices. anyways I work at a motorcycle repair shop in Niagara falls Ontario. It's called Eagles Nest.
