Anyone ever painted an old Sea Doo?

I have a '92 XP that is in great condition for its age. Only problem it has bright green and purple paint that is very early 90's. I'd like to completely repaint it a more updated color but am scared to try. I saw this spray paint in Home Depot the other day that was specifically designed for fiberglass and the vinyl seat. If I can get the old decals removed I'm confident I can make it look good with a new coat of paint. Still don't know how I'd do the bottom of it though. Has anyone ever tried this? Am I crazy? Thanks.

There are websites with replacement decals that are more "up-to-date" for our jet skis. I just deleted the link this week, but I guess a search on the forum or a google search will find one for you.

I wouldn't try paint. It may look good at first, but will peel off or scratch off easily...

I actually just peeled my decals off and left the body yellow. It looks like a "race ski" now because it doesn't have the "dated" XP stickers on it.

I wouldn't mind if mine were yellow. I have to deal with quite a bit of purple on mine and a good deal or ridicule from my younger brother! But seriously if I scuffed the fiberglass with a high grit sandpaper and primed it well before painting why wouldn't it stick?
