Any impelled tricks?

I am putting new ware rings in my 95 speedster. Job is going great (many thanks to doc honda and this forum for the guidance) I am stuck though. I have one pump back on the boat. The other I cant get the impelled to fitnin with the new wear ring so I can screw it on!! I get itnalmost started but it wont go. Any tricks to this? I am freezing the impeller now but i think that's a long shot.

Sometimes the aftermarket ones are a bit out of round or a little larger. usually you can get in and the just start it up and it will shave the ring for ya. You did make sure no extra stuff from the old one is left behind?

It wan an OEM ring. I finally got it but froze the ring and heated the housing (aluminum) up to 150 F.
