Hi
I am deciding to buy between 2006 Speedster SC 215HP vs 2004 or 2008 Sportster 155HP.
At this time I prefer 155HP after I read all the previous reviews since 155HP is enough power for me, my wife and a Lab
Occasional will go tubing with son and our young grand daughter.
Is any known mechanic concerns for early 215HP SC 2005/2006 ?
1. I am aware ceramic bearing washer issue
2. I heard another one issue but not sure if it's related to exhaust hose ? Please share your knowledge about what need be aware about early SC 215HP speedster before I consider to buy it
Thanks a lots
Eric

Ok, boat engines are a year behind. So, if it is a 2006 for example, it is a 2005 engine.

2004 to early 2006 engines have Sodium Filled exhaust valves that are prone to fail. SeaDoo no longer uses this style. When they fail they cause SERIOUS engine damage. To the tune of $3000 or better..

So, if you buy any of the 4-tech with the Sodium Valves, I would swap them out. I would use this info as a bargaining chip to get the boat at a lower cost.

The SC washer hose 2004 to 2007. Which would be 2005 to 2008 for boats,,

Looked at clean 2006 U205 today with 2 x 4-Tec 155hp 130hrs. Do you happen to know which HIN numbers from 2006 would have the older valves which caused problems? How would I determine if the one I looked at had the older valves or not? Owner did not know, but did mention that he just had engines services and dealer "changed oil several time to make sure they removed all the water" I thought that was strange it would have any water in the oil. Would this be something related to the exhaust valves? Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Jeff
