I don't think I would try to fire it. (I know that much)

Anyway... my non-expert thoughts are it's modern since I see a cap for the ignition. It seems like guns like that were popular in the 70's as kits, and that's what I'm guessing it is.

Now... with that said... if it is authentic... it's mid 1800's... and very Brit, or German in nature. Most percussion USA guns had more wood on them.

Is there any inscriptions? If it was vintage, the manufacture would have a name and what-not inscribed. The replica kit's normally just had a cal.

If you get someone to look at it... let us know what it is.

I know when I cleaned out my grandmother's house, after she passed on... my Aunt gave me a gun that she thought was a toy. But after looking at it... it was a S&W Model #1. It's tiny (The size of a kid's cap gun) and fires the original 38 cal. (now called 38 short) It was from the 1880's, and still works just fine.

Firing is definately out of the question. To be honest I wouldn't even know where to start if I would fire it (which I won't) appreciate the advice ... I'll dig around and get someone to take a look at it. Will definately post back results.

Pawn Stars...lol

Yeah man!! Get sean to take a look at it and then get chumleigh to shoot it ... LoLz. I think Doc is onto something though, no inscribed name anywhere on this gun, but is does have the cal on the barrel so it might be one of the kit guns he's referring too. Still see if I can get someone to check it out.
